The Principle of Remuneration

Our philosophy is as follow:

  • we are looking to groom talent from the intern level to become partner of the Firm;

  • to groom lawyer (from intern level) to own a Law Firm and/or to become Equity Partner of the Firm;

  • As such, we are looking for talent to join this Firm for long term to grow the firm;

  • We do not encourage short term period worker as this impede the growth of the firm;

  • nurtured law student/graduate to improve in their practical legal skills by providing practical legal works;

Who is not suitable to apply to Dylan Chong & Co?

Please do not apply to us if you are:

  • short term work - looking for a one week or one month with the intention to have a test of working in a law firm. You are not the right fit for the firm if you decide to jump or to test water around;

  • not passion to work - you work to learn, so if you do not have the passion to work & learn. This firm is not for you. 

  • lazy & not hard working - you are not hard working and expect other colleague to do the hard work;

  • not particular, careless, & do not double check your works - if legal works is not suitable for you, please leave asap, we only value those who treasure the art and science in providing legal services to our utmost clients. This is because legal works provide closure and relief to our client's problem.

What we want to achieve with our talent:

  • we want to capture the market shares for every sector of the legal services we provide;

  • we want to groom advocate & solicitor that is able to argue before the Highest Court in Malaysia (Appellate Court); to be able to become arbitrator;

  • we want to build a South East Asia Top 5 law firms;

  • we want to provide a full service law firm this includes collaborating with professional services such as Audit/Accounting/Tax/Valuation/Estate Agency & other professional firms/Company.

Intern(s)' Allowance

  • Intern 1 - with no legal working experiences in a law firm RM500 allowance/per month or RM25/per day

  • Intern 2 - with working experiences (minimum 3 months working experiences in a law firm; those with working experience with less than 3 months in previous law firm is strictly not eligible for this scheme) RM800-RM1,500 allowance/ per month or RM40 - RM75/per day (depending on working experiences).

  • Intern 3 - Upon service of 6 months with Dylan Chong & Co the intern may be eligible for (RM800-RM1,500 allowance/per month or RM40 - RM75 per day (depends on prior working experiences) plus incentive (subject to terms & conditions & performances).

* exclude reimbursement on travelling and other expenses incurred based on case to case basis

* Incentive - based on case to case basis, whereby an incentive will be paid out of each case. We prioritize incentive to intern to let you have a feel of earning extra monies while working in a law firm. 

Who is suitable to apply as "Intern"?

  • Law student (3rd year or Final Year)

  • CLP student (repeating CLP)

Paralegal's Allowance

  • Paralegal 1 - applicant with 3 months- 6 months prior working experiences in a law firm(s) RM1,000 - RM1,500/per month or RM50 - RM 75/per day (depends on your working experiences) and subject to terms and conditions.

  • Paralegal 2 - Upon service of six [6] months onward is eligible for allowance (RM1,000 - RM2,000/per month or

    or RM50 - RM 100/per day) plus incentive subject to terms and conditions; payment based on case to case basis.

* paralegal must have prior working experiences, otherwise, you are only eligible to apply for internship position.

* if you have no working experience, you are strictly to start from intern stage. Non negotiable for paralegal position without prior working experience.

* responsibility of legal liability lies with the lawyer in charge

Who is suitable to apply as "Paralegal"?

  • CLP repeater, Law student (final year/3rd year law student)

  • Paralegal is rewarded with higher base pay compare to intern.

  • If you are CLP student (repeater/taker), you start from Intern level, and work your way up to Paralegal level.

Pupillage's Allowance

  • Pupils' allowance (those never intern in Dylan Chong & Co) - RM1,500 - RM2,400 (based on working experiences). 

  • Pupils' allowance (those who had work as intern & paralegal work (homegrown personnel) at Dylan Chong & Co, allowance will be paid slightly higher - RM1,500 - RM2,800.

  • Pupil may be entitled to low tier profit sharing of 1.5% to 5% for the case handled subject to terms and conditions fulfilled.

Legal Associate 1 - Salary + Profit Sharing

  • Home grown legal associate - those who did pupillage in Dylan Chong & Co - salary starting is RM3,800 - RM4,000 plus           5 - 25% profit sharing based on collection of legal fees for files handled and subjected to achieving certain Key performance Index (KPI) based on the terms and conditions agreed.

  • Non Home grown legal associate - RM3,400 - RM4,000 plus 5  - 25% profit sharing based on collection of legal fees for files handled  and subjected to achieving certain Key performance Index (KPI) and agreed terms and conditions.

Legal Associate 2 / Senior Associate 1- Salary + Profit Sharing

  • Upon achieving certain Key performance Index (KPI), you will be promoted to become Legal Associate 2

  • Home grown legal associate - those who did pupillage and started legal associate work -  RM4,500 plus 5 - 20% profit sharing subject to terms and conditions

  • new applicant - RM4,000 - RM4,500 plus 5 - 20% profit sharing subject to terms and conditions.

Legal Associate 3 / Senior Associate 2 - Salary + Profit Sharing

  • Upon achieving certain Key performance Index (KPI), you will be promoted to become Legal Associate 3 /Senior Associate 2

  • Legal Associate 3 is in the monitoring period of becoming Junior Partner of the Firm

  • Salary + profit sharing to be discussed on case to case basis.

Junior Partner - Salary + Profit Sharing + Equity

  • Salary + Profit Sharing to be discussed on case to case basis with "preferred shares on firm's group profit".

  • Preferred shares - percentage on total collection for the Law Group Practise, ie, Conveyancing group 1 earns revenue of RM400,000.00 and the Junior Partner is entitled to 5% of revenue or RM20,000.00 being "preferred shares profit".

Branch Partner - Profit Sharing/Equity

  • Equity Shares Partner - to be agreed on case to case basis

  • Branch Partner

  • Committee of the Board of the Firm

  • Remuneration based on Executive role hold

Consultant - Profit Sharing

  • remuneration based on contractual terms; case to case basis

* The agreed payment scheme will be reflected in the agreement between the applicant and the Firm to reflect the commitment of the Firm towards the applicant's passion and desire to be part of this Firm.
